Westport Music Students To Collaborate With Afro Bop Big Band

Westport music students will join forces with Joe McCarthy's Afro Bop Big Band for an upcoming collaborative concert.

From Joe Mccarthy Music: Renowned drummer/percussionist Joe McCarthy shared his unique style of music with Westport school music students at multiple clinics in May and June. These clinics will culminate in a collaborative concert June 13, 7:30pm, Staples High School, as musicians from Staples, Coleytown Middle School and the district Middle School Percussion Ensemble join forces with Joe McCarthy's Afro Bop Big Band for what will no doubt be an explosive evening of music. McCarthy "has led a diverse career as a drummer, percussionist, bandleader, producer and educator in a myriad of settings from symphony orchestra to bebop, big band, afro cuban, theater and beyond.
