Westport Names New Town Clerk
Jeffrey M. Dunkerton began his tenure this week, replacing the recently retired Patricia Strauss.

WESTPORT, CT — Jeffrey M. Dunkerton, a Brookfield resident and former Assistant Town Clerk in Danbury, has been named Westport's new Town Clerk, an appointment that became effective on Jan. 19.
Dunkerton replaces Patricia Strauss, who retired on Jan. 1, and he was selected from a group of "several qualified candidate," according to First Selectman Jim Marpe.
While working for Danbury, Dunkerton was responsible for the automation of the Town Clerk’s office, including digitizing all City records. He also performed several managerial and administrative functions including the preparation of department budgets and the day-to-day oversight of departmental staff.

Before his post in Danbury, Dunkerton was Brookfield's Registrar of Voters and was an operations manager for a division of Pitney Bowes. He is a volunteer firefighter in Brookfield, a Marine
Patrol Officer for the Candlewood Lake Authority, and a mentor with the Danbury Schools & Business Collaborative program.
He and his wife, Amber, have two sons.

Added Velma Heller, Moderator of Westport's Representative Town Meeting, "We look forward to working with Jeffrey in his new position. I’m certain that he will be a very effective Town Clerk."
