Westport Negotiating Longshore Golf Pro Contract: Report

John Cooper has held the position for 26 years, but whether he will remain in the post is in question.

WESTPORT, CT — The 26-year tenure of Longshore Golf Club pro John Cooper may be coming to a close, as Westport negotiates a new golf contract with an undisclosed entity, reports Westport Now.

Town Parks and Recreation officials have not disclosed with whom they are negotiating, but it doesn't appear to be Cooper, who columnist Dan Woog says on his blog is leaving the post at the end of the year when his current contract expires.

Cooper, a Westport native and popular fixture at the course and pro shop, was one of the four bidders for the new contract. When the town will announce Longshore's new golf pro was not disclosed.
