Westport Newman's Own Foundation Launches Fellowship Program

The program provides recent college graduates with experience in the philanthropic sector.

Westport-based Newman’s Own Foundation announced its first class of fellows.

The program provides recent college graduations with work experience in the philanthropic sector and is designed to expand, enhance and diversify the pool of talent entering nonprofit careers.

The Newman’s Own Foundation Fellowship Program provides promising young people a meaningful experience in the nonprofit sector, which hopefully will help shape their future participation and support for this vital segment of global society,” said Bob Forrester, President and CEO of Newman’s Own Foundation, and Executive Chairman of Newman’s Own, Inc.

Below are the names of fellows.

Ebiere Awudu of Nigeria, currently living in New Haven, CT, received her M.A. in Communication from the University of Hartford. She was an intern at Newman’s Own Foundation and is continuing as a Fellow at Newman’s Own Foundation in Westport, CT.

Ashley Boyd of Hyattsville, MD, received her B.A. in Anthropology & Sociology and English from Lafayette College. Her Fellowship project is in collaboration with the SeriousFun Children’s Network in Westport, CT and The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, CT.

Rey Llena of Yonkers, NY, received his B.S. in Neuroscience from Trinity College. He is a Fellow at Newman’s Own Foundation in Westport, CT.

Rose Pierre-Louis of Hyde Park, MA, received her B.A. in English from Bryn Mawr College. She is a Fellow at Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network in Hartford, CT.

Karimah Shabbaz of South Ozone, NY, received her B.A. in Sociology from Bard College. She is a Fellow at The Posse Foundation in New York, NY.

Paige Ziplow of Simsbury, CT, received her B.A. from Connecticut College. She is a Fellow at Wellness in the Schools in New York, NY.
