Westport Nonprofit To Receive $165k Congressional Grant

WESTPORT, CT — Westport nonprofit Children's Community Development Center will receive a $165,000 grant to help install solar panels that will provide electricity to three childcare centers in town.

“These targeted specific grants are a fantastic new year win for our state," Sen. Richard Blumenthal said in a statement. "Connecticut can now count on hundreds of millions of dollars for our most urgent needs—from reducing gun violence to increasing affordable housing to providing critical mental health services."

The grant was part of $236 million in funding that was approved for Connecticut projects through a Congressional omnibus appropriations bill. The bill passed Dec. 22.

"This was the year of getting things done for Connecticut, and I’m so proud that we are bringing home $236 million more for community-based projects in our state," Sen. Chris Murphy said in a statement. "This funding will help reduce gun violence in our communities, support small businesses and workforce development, improve water infrastructure, increase access to mental health services, and ensure the resiliency of our coastline communities."
