Westport North Avenue Bridge Work Delayed
The DOT is blaming numerous accidental strikes by over-sized vehicles on Route 15.

State Department of Transportation Officials notified Westport that there will be more delays in completing the North Avenue Bridge project due to unforeseen engineering problems.
Work will cease in the winter and push the project completion date to June 2016. The alternating single lane will continue through the winter months, according to a release from the town.
“We have been in close contact with the DOT since the inception of this project and have continually urged the DOT to expedite the repairs to the best of its ability,” said First Selectman Jim Marpe, adding that keeping one lane open helps during school bus time.
