Westport P&Z To Review Request To Renovate Wakeman Town Farm Barn

Information from the Town of Westport:

WESTPORT, CT — Planning and Zoning Director Mary Young has announced that at its July 8, 2024 at 6:00 PM, the Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z Commission) will review a request submitted by the First Selectwoman on behalf of the Wakeman Town Farm for renovations to the existing barn, at 134 Cross Highway.

A project narrative submitted by LANDTECH describes:

“The renovations to the barn include a rebuild and expansion of the right wing which will allow for an activity room, half bath and storage. The existing barn to remain will include renovations for a store, sprout house and vestibule. The project is being funded by private donations to Wakeman Town Farm, ARPA funds, and a town loan allocated to the Farm by First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker.”

Substantial improvements to a municipally owned building, as referenced in §8-24 of the CT State Statutes, requires a positive §8-24 Report by the P&Z Commission or an affirmative 2/3 vote by the RTM to overturn a negative §8-24 Report.

The July 8 P&Z Commission meeting will be held remotely using Zoom; will be live streamed on the Town’s website at www.westportct.gov; and/or will be accessible on Optimum Government Access Channel 79. The remote meeting link is published on the meeting agenda available on the Town’s website on the “Meeting List and Calendar” page.

Written comments may be submitted and should be sent to PandZ@westportct.gov by 12:00pm on the day of the meeting if intended to be distributed for consideration by members of the P&Z Commission. Written comments received after 12:00pm on the day of the meeting will be entered into the record but will not be distributed until the next business day.
