Westport Playhouse Opens Registration For Middle School Playmaking Program

Students in grades 6-8 will write and rehearse an original play during the spring program in Westport.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport Country Playhouse said registration is underway for Playhouse Playmakers, a seven-week children’s education program for middle school students in grades six through eight.

The Saturday program will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. starting April 11 through May 30 at the playhouse, 25 Powers Court off the Post Road East, in Westport. Students will work together to create an original play that will end in a staged reading for an invited audience of family and friends on May 30 on the Playhouse stage. The program does not require memorization.

According to the playhouse, students will learn the fundamentals of playwriting, storytelling, production and some acting while writing, revising and rehearsing a play they create together. The playhouse said participants also will hear their work read aloud by professional actors as part of the process.
