Westport Police Department Hires New Officer

She is a graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Trumbull, and the University of New Haven.

WESTPORT, CT — A new officer has joined the ranks of the Westport Police Department.

During a ceremony last week, First Selectwoman Jen Tooker swore in Melissa Bike, 24, as the department's newest Police Officer. Click here to view photos from the swearing-in ceremony.

Officer Bike hails from Stratford, and is a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Trumbull. After high school, Bike attended the University of New Haven, where she attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Investigative Services, and a Master’s Degree in Emergency Management, according to the department.

She was an accomplished softball player both in high school at St. Joseph’s and for the University of New Haven, where she was an infielder and finished in the top ten all-time for one of their statistical categories.

As her educational background shows, Melissa has always had an interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement. After graduating from college, she completed an internship with Stamford Superior Court.

During the ceremony, Westport Police Chief Foti Koskinas welcomed Officer Bike and “thanked her for taking a chance on Westport PD.” He recognized that she had “several employment opportunities and chose Westport.”
