Westport Police Receive 25 Child Safety Seats, $8,000 Grant for Safety Enforcement
Over the past five years, the Westport Police Force has installed more than 200 child safety seats for families.

WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Police Department has received 25 child safety seats and an $8,000 grant for seatbelt enforcement, the department announced.
The child safety seats are for the department's ongoing installation program for families. Over the past five years, Westport Police Officers, who have been certified as Child Safety Seat Technicians, have installed more than 200 child safety seats into personal vehicles. This batch of seats were awarded to the Westport Police Department by the Children’s Medical Center, Safe Kids Connecticut and the Department of Transportation.
Earlier this month, the department was awarded the grant of $8,000 by the Connecticut Department of Transportation for seatbelt enforcement. During Thanksgiving Week, November 21-26, and again over Memorial Day Week next year (May 22 through June 4, 2017), the Westport Police Department will have specific patrols targeting motorist who do not wear their seatbelts as part of the statewide “Click it or Ticket” campaign.
