WESTPORT, CT — Westport Public Schools, in concert with Westport police and the Parks and Recreation Department, has implemented new school security guidelines at all the district's schools, according to authorities.

To enhance school security, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. — on days that school is in session — only students, staff and those conducting school related business will be allowed on any of the school properties.

"This includes Wakeman Park at Bedford Middle School, the Community Gardens at Long Lots Elementary School, and all athletic fields on school property," wrote Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods in a statement. "Those doing business at Wakeman Town Farm are allowed to use the parking area located at Wakeman Town Park."
