Westport resident Hunter Peterson played a key role this fall in Marvelwood School’s championship boys soccer season. The junior goalkeeper led his Kent, Connecticut team to an undefeated Hudson Valley Athletic League record, and its first conference title since 2004.
The Pterodactyls downed Storm King in a thrilling double-overtime finals match. They finished the HVAL season 10-0 (13-4 overall).

“The minute he joined the team, things changed dramatically,” said coach John Kennedy. “He was already quite talented, and he continued to improve throughout the year. He’s tough physically, very focused and aggressive.
“But he’s also very thoughtful,” Kennedy added. “He understands positioning and angles well. We rely completely on him, as our last line of defense.”

Peterson began playing soccer in the Westport Soccer Association program. He received personal training from former Staples High School and current Dartmouth College keeper James Hickok.
At Marvelwood, Peterson has earned top grades. His hobbies include fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He has participated in wilderness activities, and will travel to Alaska this summer.
Next fall, he returns to the Pterodactyls’ goal. “I’m glad we’ve got him for another year,” Kennedy notes.
