Westport Resident Loses Appeal in 'Yankee Stadium Dirt' Scam Case: Report
Mark Hayward appealed his fraud conviction for a scheme to sell dirt supposedly from the old Yankee Stadium.

WESTPORT, CT — British citizen and Westport resident Mark Hayward was convicted of swindling former rock musician Bob Runk of more than $80,000, and the Connecticut Appellate Court upheld that conviction in a decision Monday, reports the Connecticut Post.
Hayward hatched a scheme to supposedly sell dirt from the old Yankee Stadium, and he convinced Runk, a founding member of the 1960s rock band Uranus and the Five Moons, to invest in the fraudulent venture.
In 2013, a jury found Hayward guilty of first-degree larceny, and a judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison and five years of probation. Hayward was subsequently arrested in California for an unrelated scam.
