Westport Resident Wins Best Actress At Area Film Festival

She won the award at the recent New Haven International Film Festival.

From Gladiolus Productions: The New Haven International Film Festival has awarded actor and producer Robyn Babina of Westport as Best Actress in A Dramatic Role 2019 for her star turn in The Dog Walker, which was recognized as Best Dramatic Feature 2019. The festival was held last month in Downtown New Haven, CT.

Produced by Gladiolus Productions, LLC, an all-female run production company owned by Babina and Kylie Garcelon, The Dog Walker is a psychological thriller written and directed by Garcelon. The plot follows a journalist (Babina) who suspects she is being stalked. The film co-stars Matthew Crawley, Orly Shemesh, and Charlie Gaetjens.

The movie has been an official selection at several other 2019 film festivals including the Jersey Shore Film Festival, the MayDay Film Festival in Evansville, IN, the Red Cedar Film Festival in Menomonie, WI, and the ART IS ALIVE FILM FESTIVAL in New York City. Previously, Gladiolus Productions received recognition for The Dog Walker at the Northern Virginia Film Festival aka The NOVA Fest, where it picked up eight nominations (with two wins). The company’s short film Moral Compass was also a winner at the 2016 Atlantic City Cinefest and the 2017 NOVA Film Festival, respectively.

On July 31st The Dog Walker will be screened at the historic Bethel Cinema in Bethel, CT as part of the CTFilmFest52.
