WESTPORT, CT — The first day of school in Westport is August 27 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you'll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. The Westport School District has released its 2019-2020 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

September 2 Labor Day, no school

September 30 Rosh Hashanah, no school

November 5 Professional Development - No School for students (Election Day)

November 27-29 Thanksgiving Recess, no school

December 23-31 Holiday Recess, no school

Note: "Students'/teachers' last day will be June 19," school district officials said in a statement. "If there are no snow days, students'/teachers' last day will be June 12. In the event that additional make-up days are needed, District schools will use, in the following order: Monday, April 6; Tuesday, April 7; Wednesday, April 8; Thursday, April 9."
