Westport Seeks Candidates for Harbormaster, Deputy Harbormaster

Individuals interested in being considered for appointment must be registered voters in Westport.

WESTPORT, CT — The town is seeking candidates interested in being Westport's Harbormaster and Deputy Harbormaster, First Selectman Jim Marpe announced.

According to state statute, the first selectman presents those persons interested and eligible for appointment to the positions to the governor for consideration.

The positions carry three-year terms and calls for "keeping channels and established fairways clear of obstructing vessels; management of abandoned or derelict vessels; decision making authority over stationing vessels at anchor or mooring; and removal of abandoned boats," according to officials. The Deputy Harbormaster will assist the Harbormaster in these functions. State statutes provide guidance on the process to be followed.

Individuals interested in being considered for appointment must be registered voters in Westport. Resumes and/or letters of interest, including contact information and relevant experience, may be submitted to the First Selectman’s Office via mail (110 Myrtle Avenue, Westport CT 06880) or e-mail selectman@westportct.gov. The deadline for submission is Sept. 26.
