Westport Student Arrested After Online Threat
The student made a threat against a school near his home, police said.

WESTPORT, CT — A Westport public schools student was arrested after making a violent threat in an online gaming chat room against a school.
Police were notified of the threat Wednesday and the arrest was made.
The student made the threat in late August with a date of Sept. 8. The FBI traced the threat back to the student who was interviewed by both FBI agents and police, said Lt. Jillian Cabana, police spokesman.

Parents of the student were notified and cooperative with the investigation.
The student was charged with breach of peace and threatening in the second degree.

"The Westport Police Department has been working closely with Westport Public School administrators and we are confident the safety of students is not in jeopardy," Cabana said. "Additionally, the school administration will be addressing the issue and following up with appropriate disciplinary action."
The name, age and school of the student wasn't released.
