Westport Student Finds Steel Bolt In Cafeteria Muffin: Report

School officials said a Westport middle school student found a steel bolt in a muffin purchased at the school's cafeteria.

WESTPORT, CT — School officials said Tuesday a Coleytown Middle School student found a one-inch steel bolt in a muffin that had been purchased at the school's cafeteria, the Norwalk Hour reports.

According to the Hour, Westport Superintendent of Schools Colleen Palmer said in an email to parents the student neither bit into the muffin nor ingested any of it. She also said there were no other reported incidents with any other muffins or school food products.

Palmer said the muffin vendor was contacted about the incident, and all remaining muffins in the middle schools and high school are being held for review, according to the Hour. All muffins will be sourced from another bakery until the issue is fully resolved, Palmer said.
