Westport Students Invited To Leadership Summit In France
Three Westport students will attend a youth leadership summit in France later this year.

WESTPORT, CT — The Institution Saint Joseph is pleased to invite Staples High School to the fifth edition of the NIYLS "Normandy International Youth Leadership Summit," which will be held Sept. 22-29 in Le Havre, France.
Audrey Bernstein, Natasha Johnson and Patricio Perez Elorza Arce will represent Staples High School at NIYLS 2018. Maria Zachery, Coordinator of World Languages for Westport Public Schools, will chaperone the delegates.
According to a news release, selected delegates are both high performing students and interested in world affairs. Throughout the week, the delegates will have the opportunity to meet other students from all over the world and exchange their ideas with them.

Students will develop action plans to address an issue affecting their community and the world. Selected students will then implement their action plan upon returning to their home country.
The city of Le Havre will also be hosting a debate forum called the "Positive Economy Forum," concerning the theory of positive economy. Each delegation will participate in the forum.

In previous years, student participants have come from Brazil, South Africa, Netherlands, Great Britain, Italy and the United States.
