WESTPORT, CT — A Westport sushi restaurant surprised customers after it suddenly closed for a renovation this week. Located at 33 Jesup Road, Matsu Sushi was closed Wednesday morning with a sign posted on the restaurant's window addressed to their "valued customers."

"Matsu Sushi is currently closed for a renovation. Sorry for any inconvenience it may cause," the sign from Matsu Management reads.

The sign also thanked customers for their years of support, as the restaurant has been a part of Westport's dining scene for over 15 years.

According to the Norwalk Hour, the restaurant is currently facing several labor abuse charges stemming from the December 2017 firing of two former Matsu employees, who reported the owners terminated them for refusing to complete a 36-hour shift.

Matsu Sushi offers customers dining, takeout and delivery options. In addition to sushi, the restaurant also offers hibachi lunch and dinner options, according to the Matsu website.
