Westport Traffic Stop Leads to Chase into Norwalk, Arrests on Drug & Other Charges

One suspect was caught in the water of Norwalk Harbor; another was hiding under a motorcycle tarp, according to reports from police.

A traffic stop at 5:45 p.m. Monday on the Post Road in Westport resulted in the arrest of a Shelton woman on drug-possession charges and a chase into Norwalk, where the car was abandoned and one person went into Norwalk Harbor before being taken into custody, according to various news reports.

All the news reports lacked details, such as why a Westport police officer made the traffic stop and who was in the water. Such as it is, here’s the account given (accusations against the arrestees not proven in court) and attributed to Westport police:

Somewhere on Post Road West, the car was stopped and a passenger, Taylah Lucido, 21, of Shelton, left the vehicle. Police found illegal drugs in her possession (what specific drugs and how much have not been made public), according to WestportNow and other news organizations. The car, which had three other occupants, then sped off into Norwalk. Police pursued it, with Norwalk police joining in.

The vehicle was abandoned in the area of Goodrow Street in East Norwalk, according to WestportNow (WSVB-TV said it was near Seaview Avenue, which is a block from Goodrow and next to the harbor).

According to Westport News: The people in the car then scattered. A police K-9 unit came in to help with the search done by Westport and Norwalk police. One suspect was never caught. Another (just which one has not been made clear) was in the water before being caught, and another was caught under a motorcycle tarp on Betts Place.
