Westport To Use Technology To Limit Downtown Parking: Report
The town reportedly will begin enforcing a three-hour parking limit downtown by using license plate tracking software.
WESTPORT, CT — Thinking about heading to downtown Westport to eat a leisurely lunch, followed by a few hours of shopping? Beginning this spring, it could cost you.
The Board of Selectwomen recently approved an agreement for Westport police to use TickeTrack, a license plate tracking software program that can determine how long a vehicle is parked downtown, The Hour reported.
Parking will be limited to three hours, and enforcement under the initiative reportedly will begin in the spring. Vehicles parked for more than three hours will be ticketed.

The town is implementing the effort, because too many vehicles were being left in downtown parking spaces for too long, according to officials, which did not allow for enough parking turnover.
