WESTPORT, CT — Local parents are being warned that a possible school bus strike could begin on Thursday, April 27, if drivers for Dattco Transportation, the company that provides school bus service to Westport, and owners cannot resolve a contract negotiation impasse, according to Schools Superintendent Dr. Colleen Palmer.
If the strike occurs, schools will still be in session. Additionally, the district will continue to provide transportation for special needs students.
"I ask you to arrange transportation to get your children to and from school, if at all possible. I urge you to consider forming car pools during this critical period," wrote Palmer in the below Facebook post, which was emailed to parents Tuesday. "While it may be tempting to have your students exit your car in proximity of the school campus, please continue to ensure the safe drop-off of your children by waiting in line to pull up to access the official drop-off area. I also ask that any students who do not normally walk to or from school refrain from doing so during this time period."
