WPAL is run by active and retired police officers and community volunteers and has over 2,000 children in youth athletic programs. The nonprofit awards more than 25 undergraduate scholarships annually.

Winter Wonderland 2021 is a kick off to the holiday season and includes ice skating, a visit from Santa, holiday carolers, a campfire courtesy of the Westport Fire Department and more. The event will benefit all three nonprofits and the children and teens they serve.

Tickets to the event are free, but there is a fee to skate ($20 per adult and $15 per child). Tickets are available for purchase at the door and parking is available at no charge.

"This event is a great way for families to gather for some good old fashioned fun," Dan Viera, president of LivFree, said in a news release. "This is the second year we have partnered with Officer Craig Bergamo and Westport’s Police Athletic League (WPAL) and the first year we welcome Al DiGuido, founder of Al’s Angels. We will also have a drop box for toy donations at the event for Al’s Angels toy drive. COVID-19 forced us to cancel the event in 2020 so we are thrilled to be able to host the event this year. We are also hoping that Winter Wonderland becomes an annual event and tradition in Fairfield County for years to come."

Sponsors include: Zach Barratt, Interstate & Lakeland Lumber, IPAE Insurance Claims and Modern Dermatology.

Winter Wonderland 2021 is still in need of sponsors and donations. Local businesses or residents interested in sponsoring this fun family event or making a donation can find more information here or on Facebook.
