The crash occurred last week in Westport on Compo Road South.
WESTPORT, CT — A 78-year-old Westport woman was arrested last week on a charge of driving under the influence, after Westport police said she caused a head-on collision on Compo Road South.
The woman was also charged with failure to drive in the proper lane following the May 9 crash, which occurred in the 200 block of Compo Road South.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found both drivers standing outside their vehicles, and while neither complained of injuries, Westport EMS was called to the site as a precaution.

According to Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods, the investigation revealed that the at-fault operator was traveling south on Compo Road South "and had allegedly crossed over into the northbound lanes of travel, causing the accident."
The officer on-scene believed the woman may be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, which prompted the officer to conduct roadside sobriety tests, which the woman failed.
