Westport Woman Arrested on Warrant for Alleged DUI: Police

The incident occurred in May near Hales Court in Westport.

WESTPORT, CT — A 31-year-old Westport woman was arrested on a warrant last week on a charge of Driving Under the Influence, according to police.

The incident began when a disabled vehicle was spotted by police near Hales Court at about 2:30 a.m. on May 1 of this year.

"An investigation revealed that the operator was Joyce Yard," wrote police in a statement. "Evidence at the scene showed that she was impaired by alcohol and/or drugs and she was transported to [the Westport Police Department]. Once at Westport PD, she complained of medical issues and was transported to Norwalk [Hospital] where blood was drawn in the regular course of business."

Police applied for a search warrant for the blood results, and they showed that she had a Blood Alcohol Content of .20, according to officials.

Yard was notified of the warrant and turned herself into police on Aug. 24, at which time she was booked on the DUI charge.

She was released after posting a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 31.
