Westport Writers Offer Inspirational Online Saturday Workshops
Westport Writers Workshop is offering a series of online Saturday workshops online including one on finding inspiration in times of trouble.

WESTPORT, CT— The Westport Writers Workshop is offering a series of Saturday one-day workshops as well as all of their spring classes online via Zoom video conferencing. On Saturday, April 18, the workshop, Finding Inspiration in Times of Trouble, is being taught by Allison Dickens, a Senior Editor at the Penguin and Random House Publishing Groups. She co-created the XYZ line of books for twenty-somethings while at Ballantine/Random House, and oversaw the Ballantine Reader's Circle program.
It's not too late to sign up for Allison's Saturday's hour-long workshop from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. for only $35. Get an essay or story idea out of one of Allison's prompts, or bring a work-in-project and apply the prompt to an area where you may be struggling.

The group is also hosting a Literary Game Night on Fridays with Allison Dickens. Gather a group of friends or come meet new ones as editor and workshop leader Allison Dickens gets the online party started each night with a book-themed game that sparks imagination, laughter and great conversation. Liz Matthews, Executive Director, said that one of the silver linings of living through the pandemic is that they can offer workshops for writers no matter where they live. Another upcoming featured workshops is Writing Speculative Fiction with author Vanessa Blakeslee. In this workshop, you'll explore this increasingly popular subgenre of fiction, open to short story as well as longform writers and novelists, and tackle the techniques you must know to craft an effective speculative work. Since its inception in 2003, the Westport Writers Workshop has developed into one of the most highly respected programs in the area for writers of fiction, memoir, romance, playwriting, children's literature and much more. Through leadership and training from a stellar team of published, award-winning authors, students gain a deep understanding of the elements of writing and many go on to be published authors as well.
Offering workshops for every level of writer, from novice to published, Westport Writers Workshop is designed to encourage, inspire, and spark established and aspiring writers' imaginations and help them to discover and develop their own unique writing talent and voice.
