Westport Writing Group Teams With Fairfield Radio Station On 'Connecticut Voices' Contest

Westport Writers' Workshop and WSHU Public Radio are partnering in the writing contest.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport Writers' Workshop and WSHU Public Radio are accepting submissions for "Connecticut Voices," a writing contest inviting Connecticut residents to submit original stories inspired by the theme, "What Haunts You?"

Organizers are seeking original stories between 500 and 700 words that explore personal experiences, memories or other interpretations of the theme.

The contest winner will receive a $250 cash prize and the opportunity to record the winning story for broadcast on WSHU Public Radio. The first runner-up will receive $100, and the second runner-up will receive $50. Winning entries also will be published on the WSHU and Westport Writers' Workshop websites.

Submissions will be accepted from Sept. 1 through Oct. 1. Complete contest rules and submission guidelines are available at https://westportwriters.org/wshu-www-writing-contest/.

Organizers also are offering a free online writing workshop on Saturday, Sept. 10, covering writing for brevity and writing for radio. According to the organizers, "Connecticut Voices" is intended to highlight storytelling by Connecticut writers while encouraging participants to reflect on experiences, memories and mysteries that have shaped their lives.
