Westport ZBA To Review Post Road Building, Accessory Dwelling Unit And Pool Proposals
Five variance applications are set for hearings next week.
WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to consider a proposal to partially rebuild a Post Road East building and several residential projects, including plans involving an accessory dwelling unit and swimming pools, during a public hearing Tuesday.

At 1849 Post Road East, property owner and applicant Mark Howat of Fin Max Realty LLC is seeking variances from several zoning regulations to remove the rear section of an existing building and rebuild it on the building footprint. The proposal also calls for rooftop mechanical units.

The property is in the town's Business Preservation and Residence A districts. The requested variances involve building coverage, setbacks, building area, floor area ratio, maximum floor area, flat roofs, rooftop mechanical equipment and parking requirements.
The board is also scheduled to hold a public hearing on a proposal affecting properties at 246 Hillspoint Road and 41 Sherwood Drive.

LANDTECH, representing property owner Eric Cohen, trustee, is seeking variances related to maximum fill height, setbacks and building and total coverage. The application would modify a previously granted variance to construct a new accessory dwelling unit, an in-ground swimming pool and an addition to the main dwelling.
The board is also being asked to find the project consistent with Coastal Area Management regulations. The properties are in the Residence B District.
At 6 Sea Spray Road, Cindy Tyminski of Moon Gardens LLC, representing property owner 6 Sea Spray Road LLC, is seeking a variance from building and total coverage regulations. The application calls for installing an in-ground swimming pool and reconstructing the rear landing and steps. The property is in the Residence A District.
The board is scheduled to consider two other residential applications.
Jonathan and Sarah Dorfman are seeking a total coverage variance for their property at 302 Compo Road South. The proposal calls for expanding the existing driveway and adding a second curb.
At 19 Loren Lane, architect Ryan Collins, representing property owner Brennan N. McCarthy, is seeking setback and building coverage variances to construct a pavilion over an existing bluestone patio.
Both properties are in the Residence A District.
Following the public hearings, the board is scheduled to hold a work session covering new business, old business and other ZBA business.
