Windows Smashed, Valuables Stolen From Vehicles At Westport YMCA: PD

WESTPORT, CT — Several vehicles had windows smashed and valuables stolen in the parking lot of the Westport Weston Family YMCA Tuesday, according to police.

No injuries were reported in the burglaries, but witnesses saw "several people wearing masks pilfering through cars with smashed windows," Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods said in an email to Patch.

One of the witnesses yelled at the thieves to stop, and then called the police.

The thieves were seen in a white minivan, but left the parking lot, located at 14 Allen Raymond Lane, before officers arrived.

"There were no other businesses or parking lots involved, and we are currently working with the Y to obtain video surveillance," Woods said.

Among the items stolen included credit cards and laptops, reported the Westport News.
