Winter Team State Championship History: Staples High School

WESTPORT, CT — As practices for Connecticut high school winter sports officially get underway Monday (girls basketball, ice hockey and wrestling) and Thursday (boys basketball, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a league championship, and possibly a state title.

To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of all 28 CIAC winter team titles won by Staples High School in past years (* - indicates a co-op team).

• girls indoor track (1) - Class LL: 2014
• girls basketball (1) - Class LL: 1995
• wrestling (1) - Class L: 1990
• boys ice hockey (1) - Div. II: 1981
• boys basketball (1) - Class S: 1937
