WESTPORT, CT — A 28-year-old Pennsylvania woman was arrested on a warrant Tuesday charging her with identity theft and larceny, after Westport police said she stole the identity of a Westport resident in order to cash a fraudulent check.

Kaitlyn Ann Miller, of King of Prussia, and an accomplice were accused of using the Westport identity to cash a fraudulent check for $2,940 at First County Bank in Westport in late January. The bank contacted police after a customer reported the fraudulent transaction in their name.

"The customer reported that their car had been broken into and a purse had been stolen," Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods said in a statement. "The bank provided surveillance photos of the suspects and advised that their corporate offices had reported the same females involved in similar incidents in several other towns. Using law enforcement information sharing, the investigating Detective was able to identify both suspects in this case and prepared warrants for each person involved."
