2 Injured as Truck, Car Collide in Wethersfield

The crash closed Prospect Street.

WETHERSFIELD, CT - The driver of a car sustained what Wethersfield police are describing as serious injuries when the vehicle collided with a box truck on Prospect Street on Tuesday morning.

The state Department of Transportation initially reported the crash as just a truck rollover.

Police said that at 9:31 a.m., officers responded to a report of a car versus truck accident on Prospect Street, the local name for state Route 287, at the intersection of Dunham Street.

The location is directly across from the Incarnation Church, located at 544 Prospect St., police said.

Police, Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department personnel and ambulance personnel arrived at the scene and immediately began treating the car’s driver for serious injuries, police said.

The car’s driver was transported to an area hospital by ambulance, police said.

The truck’s driver suffered minor injuries and was also transported to an area hospital, police said.

Prospect Street was closed to through traffic between Willow Street and Ridge Road while the on-scene investigation took place, police said. Members of the Midstate Accident Reconstruction Team were on scene and continue to investigate the accident, police said.

The road reopened at 2:49 p.m., police said.
