Wethersfield Woman Accused Of Sexually Coercing 13-Year-Old Boy: Feds

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A 31-year-old Wethersfield woman was arrested Friday on a federal criminal complaint alleging she sexually coerced a minor she met online, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.

Amily Colon, of Wethersfield, is charged with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, and transportation of a minor to engage in sexual activity.

David X. Sullivan, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and P.J. O’Brien, special agent in charge of the FBI’s New Haven Division, announced the arrest.

According to court documents, Colon identified herself as “Alice” and began an online relationship with a 13-year-old boy in New York.

Prosecutors said the two communicated primarily through the Discord app.

According to the complaint, the conversations became sexually explicit, and Colon coerced the boy to send her a sexually explicit video of himself.

Court documents also allege that Colon sent sexually explicit images and videos of herself to the minor.

On June 26, Colon traveled to Long Island, picked up the boy, brought him to her home in Wethersfield, and attempted to engage in sexual activity, according to the complaint.

Prosecutors said Colon drove the boy back to Long Island the next day and dropped him off a few blocks from his home.

Each of the charged offenses carries a mandatory minimum prison term of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Colon appeared Friday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas O. Farrish in Hartford and was ordered detained.

Sullivan stressed that a criminal complaint is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt, and that charges are only allegations.

The investigation is being conducted by the FBI New Haven Child Exploitation Task Force, the FBI’s Long Island Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Suffolk County, N.Y., Police Department, with assistance from the Wethersfield Police Department, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Alexis L. Beyerlein and Nancy V. Gifford.
