WETHERSFIELD/HARTFORD, CT — Wethersfield police have arrested a Hartford man in connection with a carjacking that occurred outside the Stop & Shop on the Berlin Turnpike in October 2025.
According to the Wethersfield Police Department, officers responded to the Stop & Shop at 1380 Berlin Turnpike at approximately 10:05 p.m. on Oct. 15, 2025, after receiving a report of a carjacking.
Following what the department described as a thorough investigation, detectives identified Kelvin Rivera, 46, of Hartford, as the suspect.
Police said an arrest warrant was approved by a New Britain Superior Court judge.
On Thursday, Rivera was arrested while already in the custody of the Connecticut Department of Correction.

Police said the preliminary investigation found that a Hispanic man, described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a beige hooded sweatshirt and camouflage pants, forcibly removed a female victim from the driver's seat of her gray Buick LaCrosse.
Investigators said the suspect drove away east on Jordan Lane before heading north on Maple Avenue in Hartford.
Police said no weapon was used or displayed during the incident.
The victim was not visibly injured but was evaluated at the scene by ambulance personnel.
The stolen Buick LaCrosse was entered into the National Crime Information Center database, and surrounding law enforcement agencies were notified.
The case remains under investigation by the Wethersfield Police Department Detective Bureau.
