The investigation began Dec. 6, 2024, when Wethersfield police received information from the Glastonbury Police Department that Mills may have conducted a fraudulent transaction at the M&T Bank at 1310 Silas Deane Highway.

Police said Mills had been arrested earlier that day in Glastonbury in connection with a similar incident.

A subsequent investigation by the Wethersfield Police Detective Bureau determined that Mills had allegedly made a fraudulent $3,500 withdrawal from the Wethersfield M&T Bank on Dec. 6, 2024, according to police.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant from New Britain Superior Court.

On Aug. 7, 2026, the New York Port Authority Police Department notified Wethersfield police that Mills was in custody and would be held at Rikers Island, according to the department.

After Mills waived extradition, Wethersfield detectives traveled to Rikers Island on Aug. 18 and transported her to police headquarters for processing.

Mills was charged with third-degree larceny, two counts of second-degree forgery, two counts of third-degree identity theft and two counts of criminal impersonation, police said.

She was held on a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Aug. 19.
