WETHERSFIELD, CT — A kayaker was injured Friday night after reportedly being struck by a jet ski on the Connecticut River near Putnam Park, according to the Wethersfield Fire Department.
The Wethersfield Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 7:4o p.m. on Friday for a report of an injured kayaker in the water. Marine 16 responded with a crew of five and located the injured kayaker on shore after arriving in the area, according to a news release.
The person, who has not been identified, was transported to a local medical facility. CT Insider identified the kayaker involved in the "hit-and-run" collision as a 34-year-old woman from East Haven.
The initial investigation was handled by the Wethersfield Police Department and was turned over to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).
