Highcrest Project Budget Stands At $73.5 Million

A project budget report included with the agenda lists the revised Highcrest Elementary School budget at $73,504,329. As of Sept. 10, about $1.59 million had been paid, leaving approximately $71.92 million, according to the report.

The largest component is $63.79 million for construction. The budget also includes approximately $3.57 million for architectural design, $3.17 million in owner contingency, $1.45 million for furniture and technology and other professional and project costs.

The $202,420 TSKP Studio invoice covers professional services through Aug. 31. It includes $200,000 for design development and $2,420 for a redistricting study. The architectural firm's current contract value is approximately $3.57 million, with about $1.53 million billed through the latest invoice.

Construction Solutions Group's $12,347.38 invoice covers owner's representative services for August. Its current contract value is $831,970, with $49,389.52 paid to date and $782,580.48 remaining, according to project documents.

Construction Schedule Targets 2028 Opening

The committee is also scheduled to receive updates from Construction Solutions Group, Downes Construction and TSKP Studio.

Downes' construction manager's report says work in progress includes starting the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection permit application process and developing a student-designed decorative covering for temporary construction security fencing. The next scheduled step is the project's Phase 1 PCR process.

The preliminary schedule anticipates construction of the new building beginning in June 2027 and continuing through August 2028. Furniture, fixtures and equipment delivery, training and owner occupancy are scheduled for August 2028, with the first day of classes targeted for Aug. 30, 2028.

The committee will also consider adopting minutes from its Aug. 10 meeting.
