1. Wethersfield Voters To Decide $4M Fire Truck Project (patch.com) — Wethersfield residents will soon vote on whether to approve $4 million in borrowing to replace two aging fire department vehicles, a ladder truck and a heavy-duty rescue truck. Town officials say the project would modernize equipment, reduce downtime for repairs, and modestly raise property taxes starting in 2028, with a median-assessed home paying about $41 in the first year. The referendum question will appear on the Nov. 3, 2026 Election Day ballot.
2. Wethersfield To Plant 65 Trees With State Grant, Review Bike Trail Tree Removals (patch.com) — Wethersfield's Shade Tree Commission will meet Oct. 13 to decide where 65 new state-funded trees will be planted around town and whether eight trees can be removed for a proposed Marsh Street bike and walking trail. Members will also weigh additional plantings at the new Highcrest Elementary School site, review several other tree removal requests, and outline the town's fall 2026 tree work.
3. Spooky Day Trips in Connecticut: Witchy History for Halloween (mommypoppins.com) — Wethersfield families can dive into local witch-trial history with a Halloween road trip that starts at the Webb-Deane-Stephens Museum and Wethersfield Village Cemetery, then continues to Hartford, Windsor, and Old Newgate Prison. The guide highlights specific tours, memorials, and spooky-but-family-friendly stops you can visit this October, many within a short drive of Wethersfield.
4. TikTok love note, DNA helped link Enfield man to $10K Motel 6 robbery, warrant says (nhregister.com) — Wethersfield police say a TikTok love note and DNA evidence helped them arrest a 45-year-old Enfield man in a July armed robbery at the Motel 6 on the Silas Deane Highway, where a clerk was assaulted and over $10,000 stolen. The suspect is free on bond and due in New Britain court Oct. 13, while a second suspect remains at large.
