WETHERSFIELD, CT — A second person has been charged in connection with an armed robbery at a Wethersfield motel in July during which a clerk was threatened with a gun, assaulted, and robbed, police announced Tuesday.
Erica Valentin, 40, of Enfield, was arrested Monday, Oct. 20, on a warrant following an investigation by the Wethersfield Police Department's Detective Division.
Valentin was identified as a co-conspirator in the July 27 robbery at Motel 6, 1341 Silas Deane Highway, according to police.
She was charged with:
Valentin posted a $500,000 court-set bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court Nov. 10.
Her arrest follows the Sept. 22 arrest of Francisco Perez, 45, also of Enfield, in connection with the same incident.
Perez was charged with:
Perez posted a $500,000 court-set bond and was scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Oct. 13, police said.
According to Wethersfield police, the robbery occurred at approximately 10:16 p.m. July 27.
Investigators said two suspects entered the motel lobby, jumped over the front counter, and demanded cash from the clerk.
The suspects then allegedly forced the clerk at gunpoint into a rear employee office, where the clerk was assaulted.
Police said the suspects stole the clerk's cellphone, wristwatch, and an undetermined amount of cash.
The clerk suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment, according to police.
Investigators said the suspects fled in a white 2017 Hyundai Elantra bearing Connecticut registration AZ09385. The vehicle had previously been reported stolen from Hartford.
At the time of the robbery, police described both suspects as Hispanic males wearing dark clothing and masks. Both were reportedly armed with handguns.
The Wethersfield Police Department's Detective Division conducted an investigation that led to the identification and arrests of Perez and Valentin, police said.
Both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
