 her work in the library, Martha is a long-time Wethersfield resident, 
who quite literally knows where all the bodies are buried. Learn 
Wethersfield’s history through the lives of the people who lived here.
Tours gather at the red barn in the First Church parking lot. Tours 
last about an hour and a half. Admission is $10 for the general public and free to current WHS members. Due to the outdoor nature of the tour, only cash will be accepted.&nbsp;This tour may be cancelled or postponed due to inclement weather. Pre-registration is not required.

Creative Writing and Memoir Writing Workshop Series Two creative writing workshops are offered this summer. The first will be for open forms and begin on July 6th. The second will focus on memoir writing and will start on July&nbsp;8th. They will both meet at Saint James Church, 1018 Farmington Avenue&nbsp; in West Hartford.&nbsp; The&nbsp;dates for open&nbsp;forms are: 7/6. 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, and 8/10. These are all Mondays. The dates for the memoir workshops are: 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29, 8/5, and 8/12. These are&nbsp; Wednesdays. They will both meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m.. The cost is $240.00, and payment is for the series. Sign ups&nbsp;are on a first come first served basis. Registration is required.&nbsp; Writing instructor David Pontrelli is a&nbsp;&nbsp;graduate of Wesleyan University, a certified Connecticut English teacher, and a certified Amherst&nbsp;Writers&nbsp;and Artists&nbsp;workshop&nbsp;leader. HIs participants represent a wide range of ages and abilities, from inner-city children to adult professional&nbsp;writers. The&nbsp;workshops&nbsp;he leads&nbsp;stress participant safety and create an enhanced sense of community. He&nbsp;has been a featured reader at Art Works Gallery, the Hope Out Loud Peace and Arts Festival, and Word House. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, food and beverages, and don’t forget your dancing shoes. Come early and stake out your space on the lawn in front of the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center (200 Main Street, Wethersfield) for a great time. The performance will take place outdoors on the showmobile stage. Thanks to the generosity of a single and determined donor, admission is free. All of the programs in this series take place in-person at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center (200 Main Street, Wethersfield, CT). Admission is free for current members of the society and $10 per program for non-members.
University of Maryland History Professor Dr. Richard Bell concludes the American Revolution Program Series with a lecture entitled The French Alliance &amp; the Road to Yorktown. Wethersfield resident Silas Deane&nbsp;played a crucial role in helping establish an important alliance&nbsp;between the United States and France. This lecture explores the vital&nbsp;role that the alliance with the French played in the American Revolution&nbsp;and how that alliance evolved over time – from France providing secret&nbsp;support with guns and other goods to the French working together with&nbsp;the Americans to beat the British at the decisive siege of Yorktown.
