Car Into Utility Pole Closes Street In Wethersfield: Police

The road is expected to be closed for much of the day Friday.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A car crashed into a utility pole Friday morning, causing some major traffic headaches to motorists, but, luckily, only minor injuries to those involved.

According to the Wethersfield Police Department, officers were called to 544 Prospect St. for a single-car crashing into a utility pole at about 9:24 a.m. Friday.

"The collision caused significant damage to the utility pole and Eversource will be actively working to fix this issue," wrote Wethersfield police via social media.

As a result, traffic is shut down on Prospect Street between Ridge Road and Willow Street both ways with officers on the scene, police said.

Police said the closure is expected to be in place for "an extended period of time" and "minor injuries were reported as a result of the accident."
