Longtime WHS Security Officer Passes Away

WETHERSFIELD, CT — The town lost an iconic figure last week as former Wethersfield High School security officer John Saccente died.

Saccente passed away Friday on his 91st birthday.

He moved to Wethersfield from Hartford 41 years ago.

Saccente was an Army Veteran of WWII.

After he returned from his service, Saccente was employed by the Arrow Hart Company for 42 years and worked his way up to a management position. He also worked for 20 years as a supernumerary with the Newington Police Department.

He then went to work for Wethersfield High School and was there for 28 years as a security officer.
