WETHERSFIELD, CT — A 36-year-old Bloomfield man was killed late Sunday night in a collision between two motorcycles on a Wethersfield highway.

According to Connecticut State Police Monday morning, the man killed has been identified as Taj Andre Beckford, 36, of Forest Lane, Bloomfield.

According to the state police accident report, which was released Monday morning, Beckford's 2013 Suzuki GSX-R750 was traveling on the highway just north of the on-ramp from Route 314 in the left lane of two lanes.

That's when Beckford collided with a 2006 Yamaha YZFR6L that was operated by a 20-year-old Newington man.

Police said the Yamaha was laying in the left lane due to a previous accident in which the 20-year-old operator did not suffer any "apparent injuries."

This prompted Beckford to "separate" from his motorcycle with both the motorcycle and the operator coming to "uncontrolled final rests" in the left lane of the highway.

Police said Beckford was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Both motorcycles were taken away from the scene due to "disabling damage," police said.

Any witness to the collision or anyone with possible dashcame footage of the two motorcycles is asked to contract Trooper Michael Dean at 860-534-1098 or via Michael.Dean@CT.gov.
