Newington Local Opens Psychospiritual Practice in Wethersfield

A unique private practice is joining the Silas Deane Highway: AGAPE Consulting. AGAPE Consulting is a psychospiritual practice owned by Newington resident Mensimah Shabazz. After retiring last year from a career in higher education, Shabazz decided to turn her attention full-time to her private practice. She moved into her current space in March and is ready to offer her services to all.

As a psychospiritual consultant, Shabazz works with clients to improve their spiritual, emotional, and social well-being. She uses a range of spiritual methods to inspire positive change leading to self-transformation, self-healing, and self-understanding. People from all walks of life and religions are welcome at the practice.

“I yielded to my calling when I took the step to open my own practice,” said Shabazz, who has been a psychospiritual consultant for 13 years. “I am very grateful to my friends and family who have been enthusiastically supportive of me.”

Shabazz is the author of an autobiography titled, “Sankofa: Learning from Hindsight.” She has broad international perspectives, having lived in Ghana, Italy, Brazil and United States. She was an Artist in Residence at Wesleyan University, and in her role as Psychospiritual Consultant and Domestic Violence Counselor, used expressive arts modalities to support women at the New Horizon’s Women’s Shelter.

Shabazz holds a Master’s Degree in Transpersonal Studies/Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in California. She is a doctoral candidate at the California Institute of Integral Studies’ Philosophy and Religion Program.
