Old Wethersfield Intersection Project Begins This Week

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Work is set to begin this week on a construction project aimed at improving the safety of travelers in the Old Wethersfield section of town.

The Town of Wethersfield Tuesday said it has retained Clover Construction Co. of Bristol to complete improvements in Old Wethersfield.

According to the announcement, work will be near the intersections of Main Street and Hartford Avenue; Main Street and State Street; and Garden Street and Nott Street.

When complete, it is anticipated the project will improve safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.

Additionally, the town retained BETA Group Inc. of Hartford to provide full-time construction inspection, engineering oversight and materials testing services for this project.

Wethersfield officials said they anticipate site preparation work will commence at the north end of Garden Street this week.

Work will progress to the intersection of Main Street and State Street, and then to areas near Main Street and Hartford Avenue thereafter.

"We anticipate the entire project will take approximately three months to be substantially complete with minor improvements and lawn restoration work finished in the spring," the town wrote in a statement.
