Pine Acres Fire Was Intentionally Set, Wethersfield Investigators Say
The fire marshal released details of the fire at the Wethersfield club on Monday.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A fire on Sunday at the Pine Acres Swim and Tennis Club in Wethersfeld was intentionally set, the local fire marshal said on Monday.
On Sunday at 2:19 p.m., the Wethersfield Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke in the area of Wells Road and Wells Farms Drive, Wethersfield Fire Marshal Anthony Dignoti said. Firefighters found an active fire at the Pine Acres Swim and Tennis Club on Western Boulevard, he said.
The fire heavily damaged the main building, which housed a commercial style kitchen, a life guard room, locker rooms and pool filter room, he said.

Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the pool filter room, Dignoti said.
A scene examination was conducted by the Wethersfield fire marshal’s office, the Wethersfield Police Department and the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit and the determination was made that the fire was intentionally set, Dignoti said.
