As Practice Opens, a Look at Wethersfield Fall State Championships

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Thursday marks the official opening of practice for fall high school sports, and the first day gives every team hope and optimism that perhaps a state championship is in the cards.

A total of 18 Wethersfield teams have captured state titles in fall sports in the past:

• boys soccer (15): 2008 (L), 2004 (L), 2002 (L), 2000 (L), 1999 (L), 1991 (L), 1984 (L), 1982 (L), 1975 (LL), 1968 (L), 1957 (L-M), 1955 (L-M), 1954 (L-M), 1949 (L-M), 1948 (L-M)
• girls soccer (2): 1994 (M), 1986 (M)
• field hockey (1): 1980 (L)
