Report: Wethersfield Arrest Leads State Police To Credit Card Thief

SOMERS, CT - A Vernon man is facing several charges for stealing a chainsaw and credit cards from Somers residents, state police said.

The cards were confiscated after an arrest in Wethersfield and an illegal gas transaction in Enfield was one of his alleged crimes, according to an arrest report.

On Wednesday, Timothy Caruthers, 31, surrendered to state police Troop Cbarracks on a warrant, according to an arrest report.

He was given a court date of June 20 to answer to third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and credit card theft by transfer charges, according to an arrest report.

Caruthers is accused of stealing a chain saw worth $450 from a home on Woods Road in Somers, according to an arrest report.

In August, Wethersfield Police arrested Caruthers on a disorderly conduct charge and then notified state police when credit cards reported stolen from Woods Road residents in Somers were found on him, according to an arrest report.

Also in August, A esident of Whisperwoods Derive in Somers noticed his vehicle had been rummaged through and a gas card was missing. The resident then noticed a transaction made with the card at and Enfield filling station, according to an arrest report.

Caruthers lives at 104 West Main St. in Vernon, according to an arrest report.
