Rocky Hill Man Charged In Wethersfield Carjacking: Police

The arrest occurred last week in connection with a March 2023 incident in Wethersfield.

WETHERSFIELD/ROCKY HILL, CT — Local police say they have arrested a Rocky Hill man in connection with a March 2023 carjacking at a Wethersfield location.

According to the Wethersfield Police Department, Joseph Castro, 58, of Rocky Hill, was charged with robbery by carjacking; third-degree assault of an elderly victim; and third-degree larceny.

Police said Castro was being held on $200,000 bond pending a court appearance in New Britain Superior Court.

The WPD said officers on March 20, 2023 were called to 100 Executive Square in town following a report that an elderly victim was pushed from a vehicle and the vehicle was stolen.

Police said the victim was given medical attention at the time and the WPD's detective bureau investigated the incident.

This resulted in an arrest warrant against Castro and he was taken into custody last week without incident, police said.

Wethersfield police also thanked the Rocky Hill Police Department for their role in the investigation.
